Devorah

                                                             "Devorah"
Basically, we had this project in art class. It was to paint something that represents you or things you like. Many girls painted song lyrics or their favorite city, I decided to do a combination of things. I enjoy painting people or girls ( because that is what I'm most comfortable with.), I enjoy painting, music and I have always wanted to splatter paint. So I just decided to combine them all together.

First I painted the background complelty gray, then took acrylics mixed them in water and splattered the back ground. After that I did the pallet, then the girl and head phones. I felt it was looking like it was too boring so I added on the swirls not the bottom, the corner and under the pallet.
This painting took me a long time to create, but I really enjoyed doing it!

I used a lot of paint in the pallet to make it look like it had paint in it. :)

The Sun

"The Sun"
The Sun is one of my favorite paintings, if not my favorite. I like how the colors go so well together. But my absolute favorite part is the sun. I liked how I made the outside darker than the middle which draws your eye straight to the middle of the sun. It's the first thing you are drawn to when you see it. Then the tree is the last thing you notice. Even though the tree is the closest to you, you notice the sun fist.
I had a lot of fun painting this. I liked being free with the brush. I didn't have to do anything precise or have to be careful, like I would have to while painting a face. I've been painting a lot of faces recently and it's hard to get it to look the way you want. So, this was really nice, because I didn't have exactly what it should look like planned out in my head. I am thinking of painting more of this style in the future.

P.s. I used acrylic paints.

Reflect and Remember

                                                             "Reflect and Remember"
This is a water color and acrylic painting I made in the beginning of 9th grade.  I was looking through a magazine and saw the model sitting with a man, but for some reason I decided to take the man out and just paint the woman.
This is one of my favorites, because there's no harsh lines showing where her nose begins or ends. I created depth just by using shadows.

Hidden Tears

"Hidden Tears"
This was an assignment in my 10th grade art class. We were supposed to portray an emotion using charcoal. I felt that sadness is a very strong and prominent emotion, so I decided to try and capture that through my picture.
I think charcoal is one of my most favorite mediums because it is so versatile, even more so than paint. You can do so much with it, and create so much depth, even though there's no color to it. It is also really easy to shade and make things look realistic with charcoal, which is what I try to do with my pictures.

P.S. An interesting part about this picture: cover the left side of the face and it's a woman and cover the right side and it's a man. This, I'll admit, was a complete accident. :) It was something my friend noticed later on after it was completed.

Oh! Hey there!

So, I was googling how to get an art career going and basically found out that it is nearly impossible to be a successful artist. There is almost no way of making a living off of doing art. This, at first, made me very discouraged. Then I thought, "Who cares!?" As long as I'm doing something that I enjoy, I'll be fine! I would rather make a very small amount of money and be doing something I love than be doing something I hate and be rich, anyway. That is why I'm making this blog. This is the beginning of my art career :)
I'm a senior in high school at the moment and have about three months left of school before I head off to Israel to study there for a year. I'm going to continue this blog while I'm there and I'll be posting photographs I take and any art works I make there. Right now, I'll start by posting some of the paintings I have made so far.

Enjoy!
